Whenever exam season comes around, students take on excess stress as they go into preparation-mode. They may ignore their health, or not plan properly, and this always has negative consequences on their results. To cope with the CBSE and PU Term 1 exams, let’s look at some simple tips that can help students like you excel.
1. Know the syllabus
The first step in preparation is always getting clarity on the syllabus. Understand what topics will be covered and the test paper format, so that you’re familiar with the exam and how it will be conducted.
2. Make a realistic study plan
Draft a study schedule that is realistic. Have small daily goals (as opposed to trying to finish many topics in one day), to keep yourself motivated. Include breaks in the plan and remember not to overwork yourself. You will not be able to focus on your studies if you are tired.
3. Identify areas where you are weak
When you are studying, you will start to identify gaps in your understanding. Make a note of the concepts you struggle with, so that you can dedicate extra time to practicing them. Don’t hesitate to clarify your doubts with your teachers. You can even form study groups with your classmates and learn from each other.
4. Work on time management
You don’t want to be stuck in the exam with little time and too much to finish. Practice time management from the beginning. Time yourself while studying, solve practice papers, and ensure that you have a little time left at the end to check your paper before submitting it.
5. Sample test papers
Sample test papers and previous years’ test papers are the best way to practice. Not only do they help you with time management, as mentioned above, but you also get an idea of how the exam questions will be posed. It will also be a good way to get into the frame of mind to confidently write the exam.
6. Don’t ignore health
Many students ignore their health while they are studying. This ultimately affects their exam results. Sleep well, eat healthy food, follow a regular exercise routine, and drink lots of water. This will keep you mentally sharp for your studies.
7. Take notes for revision
Take notes when you’re studying so that on the day of the exam, you can quickly revise the material and be prepared. It will also help you in recalling important information.
CBSE Toppers’ Preparation Tips
To become a CBSE topper, you can follow some of the study tips listed below. These tips are also by previous years’ CBSE toppers, and will be very useful for your preparation.
1. Rely on NCERT books
Solve exercises and examples from NCERT books because it is likely that many questions will appear from there.
2. Solve previous years’ test papers
Practice by solving previous years’ CBSE test papers. This will help in time management skills as well.
3. Last 20 days before the exam are crucial
Save the last twenty days before the exam for revision and practice. Keep glancing at theories and formulas so that you don’t forget any.
Exams can seem daunting, but with the right attitude, they are an opportunity to prove yourself, work hard, and achieve great things! All the best!
